Civil War enthusiast speaks at Lincoln Day dinner

March 1, 2026 – Frederick E. Leickly, who collated, edited, and annotated his great-grandfather’s Civil War memoirs, Recollections of the Civil War: The Life of a Soldier in the Ohio 2nd Volunteer Calvary 1861-1865, was a speaker a Lincoln Dinner in Dayton, Ohio, on Feb. 12. Leickly was invited to speak by the Sherman Camp Commander who organized the event.

He spoke on his book by William H.H. Polhamus, which was published in September 2025, at a Civil War Roundtable in Carmel before talking at the dinner. He hopes the connections he made there will lead to more talks in Ohio.
