August 7, 2026 - PathBinder Publishing proudly presents the front cover for the upcoming children's book, How Do You Help a Giraffe Laugh? The book, by longtime Louisville Courier-Journal columnist Bob Hill, features a giraffe with an unusual problem − he isn't able to laugh, His animal pals at Hill Top Zoo have devised a clever solution to help him.

Bob wrote about 4,000 columns in his 33 years at the paper, winning about 25 local and national awards for stories across Kentucky, Indiana and the Midwest. Along the way he wrote 15 books on many subjects, including gardening, local history, and the Ohio River. He also coached Little League teams, opened a flower and tree nursery where he offered tours for visitors of all ages, and then decided to write children’s books to share all what life had given him with a younger audience.

The book (including the cover) is wonderfully illustrated by Donna Krabill of Louisville. She is a retired award-winning public-school teacher and education program specialist. After 17 years in the classroom, she switched her educational focus to non-profit botanical gardens where she led multiple departments. She also designed innovative exhibits, nature-based programs for students, adults and the public, and conducted local, national, and international presentations to better connect the community to the natural world. Donna also developed and curated an extensive poison dart frog exhibit for 10 years. Now, she works with her friend Bob to illustrate children’s stories. Donna is also a harpist and loves to travel and explore remote habitats.
